Let's talk about russian craft:
There are a lot of interesting events in history of russian craft. For example, the art of hohloma decoration, one of the well known russian crafts, one of the most wonderfull Russian folk craft, a phenomenon of national culture. A natural birth-place for craft hohloma was countries placed in Nizhegorodsky province: Novopokrovskoe, Khryashi, Glibino, Kuligino, Semino, Shaboshi and others. It is quite possible that the craft hohloma was envolved in 16-17 centures under influence of the highly developed icon-painting technique used in the local monasteries. Working in this technique the local icon painters made attempts to create purely ornamental compositions on the surface of spoons, bowls and barrels. This craft gets his name from the big merchants village Hohloma where every kind of ware were sold all over the Russia and abroad.
